Picking a gift for a 3rd mate
A third mate is the newest licensed officer on the bridge, and the job shows in the details. They stand the 8 to 12 watch, keep the charts corrected, run the safety gear checks, and learn how a ship really works from the people who've been doing it for decades. Shore time is short and precious, so the gifts that matter are the ones that feel like theirs: a hoodie for cold decks and long crew-change flights, a mug that stays put when the sea doesn't. Personalize it with their name, the vessel, or the year they earned the license, and a plain 3rd Mate shirt becomes something they'd actually wear at the pier. If you're buying for family at home, a design with their rank is a quiet way to say you're proud of the climb, and a onesie or kids tee lets the little ones match a parent who's away more than they'd like.
3rd Mate gift questions
Can I put a ship name or rank abbreviation on the shirt?
Yes. Type the vessel, 3/M, Third Mate or whatever they use into the text box, and the preview updates so you can check the layout before you order.
What's a good gift for someone who just earned their third mate license?
A hoodie or tee with 3rd Mate and the year they got the license. It marks the moment they earned it and they'll wear it between hitches.
Can I change it to 2nd Mate or Chief Mate later?
Yes. The word is just text, so type 2nd Mate, Chief Mate or Captain and the design updates. Their pages have their own designs too.
Can I order matching shirts for a whole deck crew?
Yes. Use the Team Shop: choose one design, paste the crew's names and pick a size for each person. Each shirt prints with its own name.
What sizes do the 3rd mate shirts come in?
Adult tees come in S to 3XL. Hoodies, kids tees and onesies list their own sizes on each product page.
How long does a 3rd mate gift take to arrive?
Each order is printed after you place it, in 2 to 4 business days, then ships by ground in 3 to 5 business days. The product page shows the delivery window for today's orders.
What if the print has a mistake?
If we print something different from the preview you approved, or it arrives damaged, we reprint it free.
