Picking a gift for an archivist
Archivists spend their days protecting records that most people will never see: government papers, family letters, museum collections, digitized photographs that need to outlast the software that made them. The work is careful and quiet, often done in climate-controlled rooms with white gloves and acid-free folders, and the people doing it tend to love their material more than they say out loud. A gift that acknowledges that care tends to land well. A tee or hoodie with archivist on it says they're proud of the job, even on the days it goes unnoticed. A mug is a good pick for the reading room or the office, where coffee and a stack of finding aids usually share a desk. If you want something more personal, add their institution, their specialty such as audiovisual or manuscripts, or the year they started, and the design becomes a record of their own career.
Archivist gift questions
Can I add an institution or a year to an archivist shirt?
Yes. Many designs have a second line for a name, a year or an institution. Type it in and the preview updates so you can check the fit before ordering.
Is there a gift for an archivist who's just finished a degree?
A hoodie or tee with archivist and their graduation year marks the milestone. Many archival programs have a graduate certificate or master's, so you can add their credential if they'd like it on the shirt.
Can I order shirts for an archives team?
Yes. Pick one design in the Team Shop, paste the team's names, and choose a size for each person. Each shirt prints with its own name.
What sizes do the archivist shirts come in?
Adult tees come in S to 3XL. Hoodies, kids tees and onesies list their own sizes on each product page.
How long does an archivist gift take to arrive?
Each order is printed after you place it, in 2 to 4 business days, then ships by ground in 3 to 5 business days. The product page shows the delivery window for today's orders.
What if the print has a mistake?
If we print something different from the preview you approved, or it arrives damaged, we reprint it free.
