Picking a gift for a commissioning editor
A commissioning editor decides which books, series or articles get made, and then spends months shepherding them through drafts, deadlines and a lot of email. They're usually reading far more than they can publish, often at a desk surrounded by manuscripts, and most of the thanks they get comes from authors rather than readers. A gift that acknowledges the job lands well: a tee or hoodie with their title on it for a weekend away from the inbox, or a mug that keeps them company through the second read of a submission. Add the publisher's name or the imprint they work for on a second line if they're happy to have it shown. Commissioning editors also tend to be the people who remember everyone's birthday on the team, so a shared item for the office, like a set of matching mugs for a launch week, is a thoughtful way to thank the whole group. Keep it personal and it will get used.
Commissioning Editor gift questions
Can I add the publisher or imprint name to the design?
Many designs have a second line you can use for a name, an imprint or a year. Type it in and the live preview will show how it sits under the title.
Is commissioning editor a good gift for a newly promoted editor?
Yes. A shirt or mug with their new title marks the step up and is something they can keep using once they've settled in.
Can I order for a whole editorial team at once?
Yes. Use the Team Shop to choose one design, paste the names and pick a size for each person. Every item prints with its own name.
What sizes do the commissioning editor shirts come in?
Adult tees come in S to 3XL. Hoodies, kids tees and onesies list their own sizes on each product page.
How long does a commissioning editor gift take to arrive?
Each order is printed after you place it, in 2 to 4 business days, then ships by ground in 3 to 5 business days. The product page shows the delivery window for today's orders.
What if the print has a mistake?
If we print something different from the preview you approved, or it arrives damaged, we reprint it free.
