Picking a gift for a dining room server
Dining room servers spend their shifts on their feet, carrying trays, remembering orders and smiling through the rush. The gifts they tend to keep are the ones that make the off hours easier: a soft tee for the drive home, a hoodie for the chilly walk to the car after close, a mug for the coffee they finally get to sit down with. What lands best is something that shows you understand the job. Put their name on it, or their restaurant's name if the word fits, and it stops being a generic server shirt and becomes theirs. Servers often work with the same crew for years, so a shirt that says dining room server with their own name on the second line gives their coworkers an easy way to tease them, which they'll probably love. A little humor goes a long way with this crowd.
