Picking a gift for a garbage man
Garbage collectors start before most people are awake and work a route that's mostly lifting, hauling and walking alongside a truck in every kind of weather. The gifts they tend to keep are the practical ones: a soft tee for the long drive home, a warm hoodie for the first cold morning on the route, a mug that's clearly theirs for the coffee they need before the first stop. Put their name on it, or the company or route they run, and it stops being a generic joke shirt and becomes something they can wear with pride. Garbage men are often the most reliable people on a street, and a gift that shows you noticed the work tends to land well. If you want to make it personal, add a second line with their name, their crew, or the year they started. Many designs also come as dark shirts and hoodies, which suit the early mornings and the colder months when the job is toughest.
