Picking a gift for a grip
A grip is someone who works behind the scenes on a film or TV set, handling rigging, stands, dollies and the equipment that holds cameras and lights in place. They're usually on set before sunrise and still packing gear after the crew has gone home, so the gifts that land tend to be practical and a little bit wry. A hoodie for the cold early-morning call time, a mug for the truck or the craft services table, a tee for the weekend that's finally theirs. The word grip is a bit of an in-joke even among film people, so it's worth adding a second line that makes the shirt theirs: a crew name, the show they're working on, or a home town. Those small details tell the person you noticed what their job actually is.
Grip gift questions
What does a grip do on a film set?
Grips handle the rigging and support equipment that holds cameras, lights and flags in place. They work closely with the electrical crew, and their job is mostly about making the shot safe and stable.
Can I add a crew name or a show title?
Many designs have a second line. Type the crew name, the production, or a year there and check the preview before you order.
Is grip a good gift for someone new to the industry?
Yes. A tee or hoodie with their job title is a nice way to mark a first big show or a first season on a union crew.
Do you have designs for a whole crew?
Yes. The Team Shop lets you choose one design, paste a list of names and pick sizes, so every crew member gets a shirt with their own name on it.
What sizes do the grip shirts come in?
Adult tees come in S to 3XL. Hoodies, kids tees and onesies list their own sizes on each product page.
How long does a grip gift take to arrive?
Each order is printed after you place it, in 2 to 4 business days, then ships by ground in 3 to 5 business days. The product page shows the delivery window for today's orders.
What if the print has a mistake?
If we print something different from the preview you approved, or it arrives damaged, we reprint it free.
