Picking a gift for a manuscript editor
A manuscript editor spends their days inside other people's books, cutting, querying and untangling sentences that someone else worked years to write. The work is quiet and mostly invisible, so the gifts they keep tend to be the ones that name the job plainly. A tee with their title on it is a small joke only other writers will get, and a mug on the desk is the one that survives the endless afternoons of red pen and cold coffee. Editors also live in a hoodie most of the year, since the work happens at a kitchen table or in a library corner where it's always a little cool. Add a second line with their name, the press or agency they freelance for, or the year they started, and the design stops being generic. If you're buying for a freelancer, the detail that lands is a word they'd actually use, like manuscript or copyedit, rather than something loud. Keep it dry and specific and they'll laugh at it.
Manuscript Editor gift questions
Can I add the name of the press or agency I work for?
Many designs have a second line. Type the publisher, agency or your own name there and the preview will update so you can check the spacing before ordering.
What's a good gift for a freelance manuscript editor?
A mug or hoodie works well, since freelance editors spend long hours at home. Adding their name or a line about their specialty makes it more personal.
Do you have designs for a copyeditor or proofreader?
Some designs use related words. Search for the job title you want, or type it into the text box to see how it looks on a shirt or mug.
Can I order shirts for an editing team?
Yes. Use the Team Shop to choose one design, paste the team's names and pick a size for each person, so each shirt prints with its own name.
What sizes do the manuscript editor shirts come in?
Adult tees come in S to 3XL. Hoodies, kids tees and onesies list their own sizes on each product page.
How long does a manuscript editor gift take to arrive?
Each order is printed after you place it, in 2 to 4 business days, then ships by ground in 3 to 5 business days. The product page shows the delivery window for today's orders.
What if the print has a mistake?
If we print something different from the preview you approved, or it arrives damaged, we reprint it free.
