Gifts from Naper
Naper is short for Naperville, the Illinois suburb that a lot of people call home, so the person on the other end of this gift is probably proud of it and has a few stories about the Riverwalk, the downtown, or the high school football Friday nights. A Naper shirt says you're from there without a long explanation, which makes it a natural pick for someone who grew up in town and moved away, or someone who still lives there and wears their hometown on their sleeve. Cities gifts land best when they match how people actually talk about the place. Add a neighborhood, a school year or the year they moved in, and the shirt becomes a record of their own time there. For the transplant who misses it, a mug on the kitchen counter is a small daily reminder of where they're from.
