About this sys dir gift
A systems director usually runs the technical backbone of an organization: the servers, the networks, the vendor contracts, and the people on call when something breaks at two in the morning. They spend most of their days in meetings about uptime and budgets, then get pulled into an outage on the way out the door. A gift that acknowledges that load tends to land better than something generic. A mug for the desk is useful, since it's likely to sit next to a laptop through many long planning sessions. A hoodie works for the cold server room or the weekend incident call from the couch. Adding a second line, such as the company name, a team, or a year they took the role, makes the design theirs. Keep it understated. Most systems directors appreciate a clean design more than a joke about computers.
