About this autistic teacher gift
An autistic teacher spends the day reading rooms, managing sensory load, and giving everyone else's needs a lot of attention while still keeping track of their own. Some are in classrooms that run on bells and noise, others teach online or in specialty programs, and many have their own kids or are the only one on staff who understands certain students. A gift that lands is one that respects how they like to be: a soft tee they can wear without thinking about the tag, a hoodie for the chilly room where they prep lessons, or a mug they can hold during a quiet ten minutes before the bell. Let them choose the words. Add the subject or grade they teach, or a phrase they'd recognize as their own, and the shirt becomes about them instead of a generic teacher joke. Ask them first what feels good to wear and use, since comfort and texture matter a great deal to many autistic people.
