About this haiti gift
Haiti is the first independent nation in Latin America and the Caribbean, founded after the 1791 revolt that ended slavery on the island, a fact many Haitians are proud to point out. Haitians living abroad often keep the flag, the colors and the language close, whether that's Creole at the family dinner table, a red and blue flag on a dorm wall or a shirt worn to a Haitian festival or family reunion. A Haiti shirt or hoodie says where they come from without a long explanation. For someone who has moved away or grew up in the diaspora, a mug with Haiti on it can be a daily reminder of home. A tee or onesie for a child with Haitian roots is a way to pass the name down. Add a second line with a city, a family name or a year and the design becomes personal to them.
