About this piasa gift
Piasa is the name of a bluff and a bird painted on the limestone cliffs above the Mississippi near Alton, Illinois, and the word is a point of local pride for people who grew up along that stretch of river. The original painting was lost long ago, and later versions have been repainted, so the name carries a bit of local history and a lot of attachment to home. A gift for someone connected to the place might be a shirt they can wear to a river town festival, a hoodie for a cold morning on the water, or a mug that greets them with their own town's name. For anyone who has moved far from the Alton area, a Piasa design is a quick way to say where they're from. You can add a second line for a year, a neighborhood or a family name to make the piece theirs.
