About this call taker gift
Call takers sit at dispatch consoles and answer the calls that come in on the worst days people have. They keep their voice steady, type fast, and send help to the right address while the caller is still shaking. Many work twelve-hour shifts that rotate through nights and holidays, so the gifts they keep are the ones that make the break room feel a little more like theirs. A hoodie for a cold console room, a mug that stays on their desk, a tee for the drive in. What lands best is a shirt that shows you know the job: put the words call taker on it, then add their center or agency name, or the year they started. If you're buying for a whole dispatch floor, one design with each person's name on their own shirt makes a better gift than another round of donuts. Public safety telecommunicators are recognized during National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, held in the second week of April, so that's a good time to order.
