About this girdletree gift
Girdletree is a small town on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, and the people who came from there tend to hold on to it hard. Most of them left for school, a job or a bigger city and still tell people exactly where they're from when someone asks. A shirt with the town name is how they say that out loud at a reunion, a homecoming game or a family visit, and it's the kind of gift that gets worn for years because it's about where they come from. Add the year they graduated or the street they grew up on in the second line and it becomes theirs in particular. A mug suits the one who moved away and keeps coming back in their head, and a hoodie works well for the cold months when they're missing home. Since it's a small place, a gift with the town name on it will probably be the only one like it in the room.
