About this aitkin gift
Aitkin is a small city in north central Minnesota, on the Mississippi River and not far from the Iron Range, so anyone from there tends to carry it with them. A shirt with Aitkin on it is how a hometown person says where they're from, at a college dorm three states away or at a family reunion back on the lake. Small-town gifts land when they feel personal rather than like a souvenir, so think about what this person is known for locally, whether that's the river, the lakes, the outdoors or simply the fact that everyone there knows everyone. Add a year, a class, or a street name on the second line and the shirt becomes theirs. A hoodie suits someone who misses Minnesota winters, and a mug works on the kitchen counter of someone who's moved away but still checks the local news.
