About this mandan gift
Mandan is a city on the Missouri River across from Bismarck in North Dakota, and people who grew up there tend to carry it with them. A Mandan shirt is how someone who left wears their hometown to a state fair in another state, or how a current resident says where they're from without a long explanation. Because it's a small city, the people who'd wear this are often tied to local school teams, long family roots, or the friends they've known since childhood, so a hoodie or tee with the city name lands as a little bit of home. For the one who moved away, an 11 oz mug on the kitchen counter is a daily reminder of the river town they still call home. Add a second line for a graduating class year, a street, or a family name and the design becomes theirs, not just a souvenir.
