About this unit nurse gift
A unit nurse is the person who knows every patient on the floor by name and every call light by sound. Shifts run twelve hours, often with no real break, so the gifts that last are the ones that make the drive home or the cold break room a little easier. A soft tee works for the commute, a hoodie for the chilly hallways, and a mug that's clearly theirs keeps it from walking off to the nurses' station. What lands best is a detail that shows you understand the job. Put their unit on the second line, whether that's med-surg, telemetry, med-surg night or whatever their floor is called, and add the credential they worked for, such as RN, BSN or their certification. Nurses Week falls in early May, and graduation season brings a wave of new nurses in May and December, so those are busy times to order.
