About this statistical modeler gift
A statistical modeler spends a lot of time building models that most people will never see, testing assumptions, arguing about priors and checking whether the numbers hold up when the data changes. The work is quiet and detailed, and the people doing it tend to appreciate gifts that acknowledge the craft without making a big show of it. A tee with their title on it is a nice nod for the office or the weekend, and a hoodie suits the long afternoons over a laptop when the model refuses to converge. A mug is probably the most useful of the lot, since so much of the job happens over a second or third cup of coffee while a run finishes. To make it theirs, add their name on a second line, or a line that tells you something about their field, such as the software they live in or the year they started. That small detail is what turns a generic professional shirt into one they'll actually reach for.
