About this bakersfield gift
Bakersfield people carry the city with them, whether they're still in the Central Valley or working in Los Angeles or Seattle. The valley heat, the oil fields, the Buck Owens and Merle Haggard country roots, and the Friday night high school football games all shape how they see home. A Bakersfield shirt is how they claim it: for the trip back for a family gathering, for a Kern County reunion, or just to mark where they're from. A hoodie fits the cool evenings when the valley finally drops below ninety. A mug works for the morning coffee of someone who misses home. Add a neighborhood, a high school class year, or a street name on the second line, and the gift stops being a souvenir and becomes theirs. For a graduate heading off to college, a Bakersfield hoodie with the year on it is a simple way to say you'll always know where they're from.
