About this monongah gift
Monongah is a small town in Marion County, West Virginia, and the people who grew up there tend to carry it with them. Monongah sits along the Monongah Creek valley, and its history is tied to coal mining and the families who worked the nearby mines, so a shirt with the town name is often a way of claiming a place that's easy to drive past on the way to somewhere bigger. It's the kind of name that starts conversations: someone spots it on a hoodie and asks where it is, and the wearer gets to tell the story. For a grandparent who never left, a mug with the town name is a daily reminder of home. For someone who moved away for work or school, a tee or hoodie is a way to bring the valley along. Adding a graduation year, a class, or a family name on the second line makes the piece theirs.
