About this post doctoral fellow gift
A postdoctoral fellow is usually a few years into a research job that pays less than they'd like, works long hours in a lab or on a grant, and is still deciding what comes next. Many have already finished a PhD and are one step from a faculty, industry or government role. A gift that acknowledges that stage lands well: a tee or hoodie with their title and field, or a mug for the bench or the desk at home. The title is long and often misspelled, so seeing it printed clearly on something they wear can feel like being taken seriously. You can make it theirs by adding their research area or institution on the second line, or by adding the year they started. Postdocs often get little recognition outside their group, so something personal and a little celebratory helps, especially around a defense, a paper acceptance or the end of a fellowship.
