About this banquet cook gift
A banquet cook works the back of the house when the event is big: hundreds of plates timed to come out hot in the same minute, often on a schedule set by a catering manager and a clock on the wall. Many of them start before sunrise and finish after the dessert station is broken down, and the work is mostly standing, lifting and staying calm when a timing goes sideways. A gift that acknowledges that long shift lands well. A soft tee for the drive home, a hoodie for the walk-in cooler, or a mug for the one quiet cup of coffee before the first ticket. Put their name on it, and add the event kitchen or the catering company's role if they'd like it, and it becomes theirs. Banquet cooks are often the most underappreciated people at a wedding or a gala, so a shirt with their own name on it is a fitting way to say you saw the work.
