About this stepdown nurse gift
A stepdown nurse sits between the ICU and the regular floor, caring for patients who are sicker than a med-surg patient but not sick enough for critical care. The shifts are busy, the patient load is heavy, and the nurses who do it well are constantly moving between monitoring, medication passes and family conversations. A gift that acknowledges that middle ground lands well. A tee for the drive home after a long shift, a hoodie for the chilly break room, or a mug that's clearly theirs so it doesn't wander off to the nurses' station. Put stepdown nurse on the shirt and add their name or their unit underneath. If they have a credential like RN, BSN or CCRN, add it too, since it makes the design theirs rather than generic. Nurses' gifts tend to be kept when they show the giver understands the job, and a stepdown nurse will notice the difference between a generic nurse shirt and one that names their actual role.
