About this rose city gift
Rose City is Portland's nickname, and the people who claim it tend to mean it. Portland has a famous rose test garden, a lot of rain, and a reputation for doing its own thing, and a Rose City shirt is how someone who loves the place wears that pride. It works for longtime locals who want to show where they're from, for transplants who moved there for the food and the bridges, and for anyone who simply loves the city's weird, green, coffee-drinking character. Because the word is a city and not a team or a school, you can make it personal with a second line: a neighborhood, a year they moved there, or the street they grew up on. A hoodie suits the drizzly months, a mug suits the morning coffee ritual the city takes seriously, and a kids tee or onesie lets a family dress its newest local.
