Gifts from Acequia
Acequia is a small, specific word, and that's worth leaning into. In New Mexico and parts of the Southwest, an acequia is a community-maintained irrigation ditch, the kind that has carried water to farms and villages for centuries, and the people who keep them running often do it together, season after season. If the person you're shopping for has a connection to one of these communities, a shirt or mug with the word on it says you know where they come from. Acequia is also the name of a place in its own right, so a design can work as a hometown or family-roots gift for someone who grew up near one. For the kids, a tee or onesie with the word is a conversation starter. For a hoodie, the cooler months suit a piece that marks a home place. Add a year, a village name or a family name on the second line to make it theirs.
Acequia gift questions
What is an acequia?
An acequia is a community irrigation ditch, long used in New Mexico and the wider Southwest to move water to farms and homes. Communities often maintain them together through shared work days and elected leaders.
Can I add a village or family name to the design?
Yes. Many designs have a second line, so you can type a village, a family name or a year there and check the preview before ordering.
Is Acequia a good gift for someone who isn't from New Mexico?
It can be. If they live near an acequia or have a personal link to one, the word will mean something. Otherwise you could pair it with a city or family name instead.
What sizes do the acequia shirts come in?
Adult tees come in S to 3XL. Hoodies, kids tees and onesies list their own sizes on each product page.
How long does an Acequia gift take to arrive?
Each order is printed after you place it, in 2 to 4 business days, then ships by ground in 3 to 5 business days. The product page shows the delivery window for today's orders.
What if the print has a mistake?
If we print something different from the preview you approved, or it arrives damaged, we reprint it free.
