Picking a gift for an acquisition editor
An acquisition editor spends the day reading what other people wrote, deciding what deserves to become a book, and then fighting for it in meetings the author never sees. It's a job built on taste, stamina and a very large stack of manuscripts. The gifts that land are the ones that nod to that: a mug big enough for a long afternoon of reading, a soft tee or hoodie for the commute and the weekend manuscript pile, something that says what they do without sounding like a conference badge. Type acquisition editor as it is, or change the line to their imprint's genre: Cookbooks, Romance, Nonfiction, Children's. Add their name or the year they signed their first book and it becomes theirs. If you're buying for an editorial team, the Team Shop lets everyone get the same design with their own name. Good moments to give one include a promotion, a first book on the bestseller list, or a new job at a new house.
Acquisition Editor gift questions
Can I put a genre or imprint on the design?
Many designs have a second line. Type Fiction, Cookbooks, Children's or any category there, and the preview updates so you can check it before you order.
What's a good gift for an editor who just got promoted?
A mug or hoodie with their new title is a safe pick. If it's a move to senior or executive editor, type the new title in place of acquisition editor.
Is there anything for the new baby of an editor?
There's a baby onesie design, and kids tees are available too. They make a gentle joke about a household that's always full of books.
Can I order for a whole editorial department?
Yes. Use the Team Shop: pick one design, paste a list of names, and choose a size for each person. Each item prints with its own name.
What sizes do the acquisition editor shirts come in?
Adult tees come in S to 3XL. Hoodies, kids tees and onesies list their own sizes on each product page.
How long does an acquisition editor gift take to arrive?
Each order is printed after you place it, in 2 to 4 business days, then ships by ground in 3 to 5 business days. The product page shows the delivery window for today's orders.
What if the print has a mistake?
If we print something different from the preview you approved, or it arrives damaged, we reprint it free.
