Picking a gift for a backup engineer
A backup engineer is the person who gets the call when the primary is asleep, on vacation, or already on their second pot of coffee. They know the runbooks, they keep a laptop charged by the bed, and they often carry the quiet weight of being the one who can step in at any hour. A gift that acknowledges that role lands well. Put their title on a tee they can wear on the weekend they're not on call, or on a hoodie for the cold early-morning pages. A mug with their name and role is a good fit for the desk where they do the careful work that nobody sees until it breaks. If you want to make it theirs, add their name or team on the second line, or a year that matters to them, like the year they took the rotation. Designs come in light and dark tees, kids tees, hoodies and mugs, so you can match the gift to how they actually spend their days.
