Picking a gift for a bassoonists
Bassoonists are the people holding up the middle of the orchestra, and they know it, even if the melody usually goes to somebody else. They carry a big awkward case onto the bus, spend real time whittling and wetting reeds, and put up with every joke about the instrument sounding like a grumpy grandfather. A gift that gets the humor and the pride lands best. Think of a tee they can wear to rehearsal, a hoodie for a cold concert hall or a long ride to an away competition, or a mug that sits on the stand during a break. Make it theirs by typing in their name, their section, the ensemble they play in, or a graduation or season year. If you're shopping for the whole woodwind row, band director, or youth orchestra, one design with everyone's name beats a pile of mismatched gifts. Concert season and end-of-year banquets are the busiest times to order.
