Gifts from Birds Landing
Birds Landing is a small place in Solano County, California, on the edge of the Suisun Marsh, and people who grew up there tend to carry it with them. A shirt with the town name is how they say they're from somewhere quiet, flat and close to the water, where the sky is wide and everybody knows whose truck is whose. For someone who moved away for work or school, a Birds Landing tee or mug is a small piece of home that doesn't need explaining. It also works well for the family that stayed, who might want matching shirts for a reunion or a holiday. Add a second line for a year, a street or a family name, and the design stops being a town souvenir and becomes theirs. Hoodies suit the cool evenings near the marsh, and the mug is for the coffee they drink while thinking about home.
