Picking a gift for a boatswains mate
A boatswain's mate is the Navy sailor who runs the deck crew, handles the lines and rigging, and keeps the ship's small boats and mooring work moving, often in rough weather. Many of them talk about the whistle, the call to attention that still means something even after years at sea. A gift for someone in this rating lands when it shows you know the work: a tee with their rating on it, a hoodie for the cold mornings on the weather deck, or a mug for the coffee they drink before the watch starts. Put their name on it, or their ship or command, and add the year they earned the rating. That turns a generic Navy shirt into one that belongs to them. Retirement, promotion and a first ship are the moments these gifts tend to mean the most.
Boatswains Mate gift questions
Can I add my sailor's ship or command to the design?
Yes. Many designs have a second line for a ship, command, or year. Type it in and the preview will update so you can check the spacing before you order.
Is boatswains mate a rating that can go on a shirt?
Yes. It is a Navy rating, and the designs use the rating name as written. Add their name or ship to make it personal.
What's a good gift for a sailor who just got promoted?
A tee or mug with their new rate and the year of promotion. It is personal, useful, and marks a step most sailors remember.
Can I order shirts for a whole division?
Yes. Use the Team Shop: choose one design, paste a list of names, and pick a size for each person. Each shirt prints with its own name.
What sizes do the boatswains mate shirts come in?
Adult tees come in S to 3XL. Hoodies, kids tees and onesies list their own sizes on each product page.
How long does a boatswains mate gift take to arrive?
Each order is printed after you place it, in 2 to 4 business days, then ships by ground in 3 to 5 business days. The product page shows the delivery window for today's orders.
