Picking a gift for a burner
A burner is a firefighter's slang for the person who keeps the stove going, the one who pulls the hardest hours and gets the grime to show for it. Most burners are wildland or structure crew members, and their days run long on the line, with smoke in their gear and a lot of waiting in between calls. A gift that acknowledges the grind lands well: a shirt they can wear to a barbecue without apologizing for the smell of diesel, a hoodie for the cold station, a mug for the coffee they drink before the shift starts. What makes it theirs is the detail only the crew would catch, like their crew name, their station number or the year they started. Type that into the second line of a design and the shirt stops being generic and starts being the one they wear to the next family gathering. This is a job where people look out for each other, so a shirt that says the same thing as their crew feels like a good fit for a crew-wide order.
Burner gift questions
Can I add a crew name or station number to a burner shirt?
Yes. Many designs have a second line you can use for a station, crew or year. Type it in and the preview updates so you can check the spacing.
Is burner a common term for firefighters?
Yes, burner is informal slang for a firefighter, especially on wildland and structure crews. Shoppers often use it as a nickname for someone on the line.
What's a good gift for a new firefighter?
A hoodie or tee with their name and the year they started works well. It's useful on the job and marks the start of their time on the crew.
What sizes do the burner shirts come in?
Adult tees come in S to 3XL. Hoodies, kids tees and onesies list their own sizes on each product page.
How long does a burner gift take to arrive?
Each order is printed after you place it, in 2 to 4 business days, then ships by ground in 3 to 5 business days. The product page shows the delivery window for today's orders.
