Gifts from Calexico
Calexico is a small city on the California side of the Mexican border, and the people who call it home know it as a place where two countries share a street and a community. Someone from Calexico might be a longtime resident, a cross-border commuter, a student who grew up there and moved on, or a relative who never quite stopped missing it. A shirt or mug with the city name is a quiet way to say where they belong. The city's identity is tied to its border location and its close connection with Mexicali, so a design that reflects that sense of place will feel more personal than a generic souvenir. Adding a year, a school class, or a family name on a second line can make it theirs. Because Calexico is a smaller place, the everyday pride of living there often shows up in small rituals: a morning coffee, a weekend at the park, a trip back after years away. A mug fits that routine well, while a hoodie suits the cooler evenings in the desert valley.
