Picking a gift for a calligrapher
Calligraphers notice things other people miss: the weight of a downstroke, the way a loose envelope address can ruin or make a wedding invitation. If you're shopping for one, you're shopping for someone who already owns too many pens and a drawer of half-used ink bottles, so another supply is a gamble. A piece of clothing or a mug that says what they do is safer, and a lot more fun to open. Type in the style they practice, like Copperplate, Spencerian, Gothic or brush lettering, or put their name or studio name on the second line so it reads like a signature. Hobbyists who've started taking commissions might like seeing their business name on a hoodie they wear to craft fairs. A mug suits the desk where they practice drills every morning, and it's one more thing that can safely sit near the ink.
Calligrapher gift questions
Can I put a specific lettering style on the shirt?
Yes. Type the style into the text box or the second line, like Copperplate, Gothic or brush lettering. The preview updates so you can check how it looks before ordering.
Can I add their name or business name?
Many designs have a second line for a name. A studio or business name works well there, especially for someone who takes commissions.
Can I use the word Lettering Artist or Penman instead?
You can type any word into a design. Calligrapher, Letterer, Penman or Scribe all work, depending on what they call themselves.
Is there something for a calligraphy class or workshop group?
Yes. The Team Shop lets you pick one design and paste a list of names, so every member of a class or guild gets a shirt with their own name.
What sizes do the calligrapher shirts come in?
Adult tees come in S to 3XL. Hoodies, kids tees and onesies list their own sizes on each product page.
How long does a calligrapher gift take to arrive?
Each order is printed after you place it, in 2 to 4 business days, then ships by ground in 3 to 5 business days. The product page shows the delivery window for today's orders.
What if the print has a mistake?
If we print something different from the preview you approved, or it arrives damaged, we reprint it free.
Calligrapher gift ideas
- A tee with their favorite scriptAdd Copperplate, Spencerian, Italic or brush lettering on the second line. Fellow letterers will spot it and start talking shop.
- A hoodie with their studio nameIf they take wedding or envelope commissions, put the business name under Calligrapher on a hoodie they can wear to markets and workshops.
- A mug for the practice deskAn 11 oz mug with their name or Calligrapher on it, for the morning coffee they drink beside a stack of drill sheets.
- A matching tee for a young lettererIf a kid in the house has picked up a pen too, a kids tee with the same word makes them feel like part of the studio.
