Gifts from Comptche
Comptche is a small unincorporated community in Mendocino County, California, tucked into the redwoods and hills inland from the coast. Most people who call it home know their neighbors by name and their drive by the hairpin turns. A gift for someone from Comptche is less about a city skyline and more about rural pride: the quiet roads, the fog that rolls in off the ocean, the sense that they belong to a place that isn't on everyone's map. A shirt or mug with the name is a conversation starter for a person who gets asked where that is every time they introduce themselves. Since the community is small, the most personal touch is usually the second line on the design, where you can add a street, a year they moved there, or a family name. If you're buying for someone who grew up there and now lives somewhere busy, the mug is a daily reminder of home.
