Gifts from Deal Island
Deal Island is a small place on the Chesapeake Bay, and the people who grew up there tend to carry it with them. Most gifts for someone from a place like this are about the water, the marsh and the feeling of being from somewhere people have to be told how to find. A tee or hoodie with Deal Island on it is a way to say where they're from without a long explanation, whether they live on the island still or have spent decades away. For the one who moved off, a mug with the island's name is a quiet reminder every morning. For a relative or friend who visits, a kids tee or baby onesie lets a family carry the name forward to the next generation. Add a second line with a year or a family name to make it personal, and the shirt starts to belong to one particular person.
