Picking a gift for a desktop publisher
A desktop publisher spends the day turning someone else's rough copy into pages that look finished, which means they notice typefaces, margins and gutters that most people never see. A gift that shows you noticed what they do lands better than a generic office joke. Put their title on a tee and the shirt becomes a small piece of their working life, the kind of thing a coworker or a freelance client would smile at across a room. Desktop publishing has long been a field of layout software, print deadlines and last-minute edits, so a hoodie for the cold studio or a mug for the desk, where the coffee goes cold while they fix one more orphan line, fits the daily rhythm. Add their name or the agency or shop they work for in the second line, and the design shifts from a joke about their job to a mark of who they are. Keep it light, since most people in this trade are proud of the craft and happy to be teased about it.
Desktop Publisher gift questions
Can I add a company or studio name to the shirt?
Yes. Many designs have a second line, so type the studio or agency name there and check the preview before you order.
What kind of gift works for a desktop publisher who freelances?
A mug or tee with their title works well, since a freelancer spends long hours at a desk and may enjoy a bit of recognition from clients and friends.
Is this a good gift for someone just starting out in the field?
It can be. A shirt or mug with their title marks the start of their work and gives them something to wear or use while they build their portfolio.
What sizes do the desktop publisher shirts come in?
Adult tees come in S to 3XL. Hoodies, kids tees and onesies list their own sizes on each product page.
How long does a desktop publisher gift take to arrive?
Each order is printed after you place it, in 2 to 4 business days, then ships by ground in 3 to 5 business days. The product page shows the delivery window for today's orders.
What if the print has a mistake?
If we print something different from the preview you approved, or it arrives damaged, we reprint it free.
