Picking a gift for a director of engineering
A director of engineering usually spends the day juggling roadmaps, hiring plans, and the occasional production fire, and then gets pulled into a dozen meetings about how the team should work. Most of the thanks they get comes from the engineers they manage and the people who see them stay calm under pressure. A gift that acknowledges the job, rather than the company badge, tends to land well. Think of a tee or hoodie they can wear on a Saturday project, or a mug for the first coffee before the standup. Add a second line with their name, team, or the year they took the role, and it stops being generic management swag and becomes theirs. If the gift is from the team, a shared design works better than a stack of individual notes, and the Team Shop lets everyone get their own name and size on the same shirt.
