Picking a gift for a director of technology
A director of technology usually sits between the people who build systems and the people who have to live with them, so the job is part budget, part vendor negotiation and part calming down a nervous executive after an outage. Most of that work happens in meetings and on laptops, which means the gifts they use are the ones that make the long days easier. A hoodie for the cold conference room, a mug for the first coffee of a planning cycle, or a tee for the weekend project they'd never admit is still a work project. Putting the title on it, or a second line with the team or company name they use day to day, makes it theirs. A title is easy to remember, and it's a good way to recognize someone's role without sounding like a corporate gift card.
