Picking a gift for a director technical
A technical director keeps the show running behind the scenes, coordinating lighting, audio, rigging and the crew who make everything work on the night. They're usually the first in and the last out, often in a black t-shirt with a headset slung around the neck. A gift that fits that life is something practical and a little bit of an inside joke: a dark tee they can wear to load-in, a hoodie for the cold catwalk or the chilly venue at 2 a.m., or a mug that's clearly theirs for the production office coffee. Put their title on it, Technical Director or TD, and add the company or venue on a second line if you know it. That's what makes it theirs and not just another crew shirt.
Director Technical gift questions
Can I add a company or venue name to the design?
Yes. Many designs have a second line, so you can type the theatre, company or venue name there and check the preview before ordering.
Is Technical Director short for something else on these designs?
Some designs use TD as a short form. Pick the version your recipient uses at work, since that's how they'll see it on the job.
What's a good gift for a new technical director?
A dark tee or hoodie with their title and the year they took the role is a practical way to mark the promotion without anything too fancy.
Can I order shirts for a whole production team?
Yes. Use the Team Shop: choose one design, paste a list of names and pick a size for each person.
What sizes do the director technical shirts come in?
Adult tees come in S to 3XL. Hoodies, kids tees and onesies list their own sizes on each product page.
How long does a director technical gift take to arrive?
Each order is printed after you place it, in 2 to 4 business days, then ships by ground in 3 to 5 business days. The product page shows the delivery window for today's orders.
What if the print has a mistake?
If we print something different from the preview you approved, or it arrives damaged, we reprint it free.
