Gifts from East Carondelet
East Carondelet is a small riverfront neighborhood in St. Louis, Missouri, and people who grew up there tend to hold on to it. A shirt with the neighborhood name is how a former resident tells you where they're from, whether they still live a few blocks away or moved across the country years ago. It's the kind of gift that gets worn to the neighborhood picnic, the family reunion, or the first game-day cookout after a long time away. For someone who has left, a mug with East Carondelet on it becomes the morning reminder of home. For someone who never left, a hoodie is practical as well as proud, since St. Louis winters are real. The name is specific and local, so the design does most of the work. Add a second line for a street, a year, or a graduating class and it becomes theirs in particular.
