Gifts from East Machias
East Machias is a small town in Washington County, Maine, and the people who grew up there tend to hold onto that. A shirt with the town name is how they claim it at a reunion, on a visit home, or on a cold morning at the kitchen table. Small towns have their own rhythms, from the high school game to the church supper to the parade, and a gift that reflects that feels more personal than a generic souvenir. If you know someone who left and misses it, a town shirt or mug says you remember where they're from. For a hoodie, think about the season: the coast of Maine gets cold early, and a warm layer with the town name is the kind of thing that gets worn for years. You can add a year, a class, or a street under the town name in the second line to make it theirs.
