Picking a gift for an electrical engineering co op
A co op in electrical engineering is a student who alternates semesters of classes with paid work terms, often at a utility, a manufacturer or a design firm. Those work terms are where the job starts to make sense: lab benches, a first real project, a manager who expects them to know which end of the multimeter to hold. A shirt or mug that says electrical engineering co op is a nod to that mix of school and work, and it tends to get worn to campus, to the job site and to the first real interview. Because co op students move between schools and employers, they often need something that marks where they are right now. Add the school name, the company they're working for this term or the year, and the shirt becomes a snapshot of their path. A hoodie is a good pick for a student who spends long hours in a cold lab or a plant. A mug suits the desk where they'll study for the next exam.
