Gifts for Ground Systems Engineers

Picking a gift for a ground systems engineer

Ground systems engineers spend their days making sure satellites can talk to the people who run them. That means antennas, telemetry links, command software and a lot of late-night troubleshooting when a pass doesn't go as planned. The gifts that land with them tend to be practical and a little nerdy, the kind of thing they'd happily wear to a launch viewing or a long test campaign. A tee or hoodie with their title on it says you know what the job is, not just that they have one. Add their team, their program or the year they started in the second line if you know it, so the shirt becomes theirs. A mug works well for the desk where the coffee goes cold during a countdown. If you're buying for a whole group, one design with each person's name can make a good send-off when someone moves on or a team milestone is reached.
