Picking a gift for a house director
A house director usually runs a residence hall or a student housing building, which means long days of conduct meetings, late-night phone calls, roommate mediation and emergency walkthroughs. Most of their work happens out of sight, so the gifts that land tend to be the ones that acknowledge the job itself. A tee they can wear on a move-in day, a hoodie for the chilly evening rounds, or a mug for the office coffee that reads as theirs. Many house directors also carry their own school's pride, so a design with their building or campus name can mean more than a generic title. You can make the gift personal by adding their hall or building name on the second line, or their campus if it's the first thing residents would recognize. A house director who's just finished a first year at a new building often values a gift that marks the start of that chapter.
