Gifts from Hungary
Someone with Hungary on their shirt is probably a Hungarian by birth, a descendant of one, or someone who spent a summer in Budapest and never got over the thermal baths or the paprika. Hungary is a landlocked country in Central Europe, and its language is unrelated to most of its neighbors', which gives people a strong sense of being distinct. A Hungary shirt is how they claim that: for a family gathering, a trip back to the homeland, or just a quiet nod to where their grandparents came from. A mug works well for the morning coffee routine of someone who misses home, and a hoodie suits the cold months. For a child with a Hungarian parent or grandparent, a kids tee or onesie with the country name is an easy way to start a conversation about where the family is from.
