Gifts from Kaktovik
Kaktovik is a small Inupiat village on Barter Island, on the Arctic coast of Alaska's North Slope, and most people who live there have deep roots in the place and its whaling and subsistence traditions. A shirt with Kaktovik on it is for someone who's proud of a town that most of the country will never see, whether they still live there, work up on the slope, or have moved away and miss the long light and the cold. Because the village is so small and remote, a Kaktovik gift tends to mean something specific: a reminder of home for someone who left, or a way to claim the place for a friend or relative who's made it their own. Many designs leave room for a second line, so you can add a year, a family name, or a line of your own. A hoodie suits the cold months, and a mug suits the morning kitchen where the coffee goes on early.
Kaktovik gift questions
Can I add a family name or year to a Kaktovik design?
Many designs have a second line. Type a family name, a year, or a short phrase there and the preview will update so you can check it before you order.
Are there designs for kids and babies too?
Yes. There are kids tees, kids dark tees and baby onesies with Kaktovik designs. Use the product filter to see which ones are available.
Is there a way to order for a group?
Yes. The Team Shop prints one design for a group. Paste a list of names and choose a size for each person, and every shirt prints with its own name.
Which design should I pick for someone who lives far away?
Choose the design that feels most like them. A simple tee or mug works well for someone who misses home, and the hoodie is a good choice for someone who misses the cold.
What sizes do the kaktovik shirts come in?
Adult tees come in S to 3XL. Hoodies, kids tees and onesies list their own sizes on each product page.
How long does a Kaktovik gift take to arrive?
Each order is printed after you place it, in 2 to 4 business days, then ships by ground in 3 to 5 business days. The product page shows the delivery window for today's orders.
What if the print has a mistake?
If we print something different from the preview you approved, or it arrives damaged, we reprint it free.
