Gifts from Makanda
Makanda is a small village in Jackson County, in the Shawnee Hills of southern Illinois, and that's the kind of place where people stay close to home and wear their town with a quiet pride. A Makanda shirt suits someone who grew up there, someone who moved away and misses the hills, or a visitor who fell for the small-town feel. Because the town is small, the details carry the gift: the village name itself is the star, and a second line for a year, a street or a family name makes the shirt theirs. For a hoodie, the cool months in the hills are the time it gets worn most. A mug works for the transplant who wants a morning reminder of home. Since there's no big-city crowd of souvenir shirts to compete with, a Makanda piece tends to stand out and start conversations at the next trip back.
Makanda gift questions
Can I add a street or a family name under Makanda?
Many designs have a second line. Type the street, a family name or a year there, and the preview will show you how it sits under the village name before you order.
Are there Makanda designs for babies and kids?
Yes. There are baby onesies and kids tees, including a dark option, so you can match a family or gift a newborn their hometown name.
Is there a design for a group, like a family or a class?
The Team Shop prints one design for a whole group. Paste a list of names and pick a size for each person, and every shirt gets its own name.
Can I use Makanda for something other than where someone lives?
Yes. It works for someone who visited, a favorite place they keep coming back to, or a trip they took. Choose the design that fits the story you want to tell.
What sizes do the makanda shirts come in?
Adult tees come in S to 3XL. Hoodies, kids tees and onesies list their own sizes on each product page.
How long does a Makanda gift take to arrive?
Each order is printed after you place it, in 2 to 4 business days, then ships by ground in 3 to 5 business days. The product page shows the delivery window for today's orders.
What if the print has a mistake?
If we print something different from the preview you approved, or it arrives damaged, we reprint it free.
