Picking a gift for a materials development engineer
Materials development engineers spend their days figuring out what things are made of and how those materials behave under heat, stress and time. They run tests in the lab, argue over alloy compositions, and often have to explain to someone in marketing why the new polymer takes longer to cure. A gift that acknowledges the actual work lands better than a generic engineer shirt. Think about the setting they're in: a lab coat over a hoodie on a cold day, or a mug that sits on a bench full of samples and coffee rings. Putting their job title on the product, with a second line for their company or a specialty like composites, ceramics or coatings, makes it theirs. If you're buying for a whole team, the Team Shop lets you choose one design and print each person's name on their own shirt, which tends to be the gift people actually wear to the next lab day.
Materials Development Engineer gift questions
Can I add a specialty like polymers or composites?
Yes. Type the specialty into the second line of any design, then check the preview to see how it sits under the job title.
Can I add their company name to the shirt?
You can type any text you like into the design, including a company name. Keep in mind that a company name is only a line of text here, so it won't carry any official link to that company.
What's a good gift for a new engineer starting in the field?
A hoodie or tee with their title and start year makes a good first-job gift. It's something they can wear to the lab on the first cold morning.
Are there versions for kids or babies?
There are a few kids tee and baby onesie designs for this word. They're a fun way to show a future engineer that the family thinks their job is pretty cool.
What sizes do the materials development engineer shirts come in?
Adult tees come in S to 3XL. Hoodies, kids tees and onesies list their own sizes on each product page.
How long does a materials development engineer gift take to arrive?
Each order is printed after you place it, in 2 to 4 business days, then ships by ground in 3 to 5 business days. The product page shows the delivery window for today's orders.
What if the print has a mistake?
If we print something different from the preview you approved, or it arrives damaged, we reprint it free.
