Gifts from Merrionette Park
Merrionette Park is a small village on the south side of Chicago, and the people who call it home tend to talk about it the way neighbors talk about a street they've known their whole lives. Most of what makes it theirs is local: the sidewalks they grew up on, the school or church they still drive past, the family who stayed when others left. A shirt with the village name is a way to say that out loud without a long speech. Because it's a place people often carry with them after they move, a tee or hoodie can be the thing that gets worn to a reunion, a visit home, or just a cold morning in another state. Mugs suit the one who keeps a little Merrionette Park in the kitchen. If you're buying for someone who grew up there, add a second line with a street name, a graduation year or the years they lived there, and the shirt becomes their story rather than a souvenir.
