Gifts from Nelson Lagoon
Nelson Lagoon is a small Alaska Native village on the Alaska Peninsula, on the Bering Sea coast, where life runs on fishing, the tides and the long gray stretches of weather that come off the water. Someone from there, or with family there, carries that place with them wherever they go. A shirt with the village name is a way to say where they're from when a plain "Alaska" would miss the point. Because it's a small community, a design with the name on it will stand out in a way a generic souvenir never could. For a relative who has moved away, a mug with the village name is a quiet reminder of home every morning. Use the second line for a year, a family name, or the word that says what they mean to you, and the piece becomes personal rather than just a place name.
